Summary of Qualifications

Judge Greenberg is an excellent communicator who is skilled at developing creative solutions. With over 200 hours of mediation training including intensive courses taught by Stanford and Harvard faculty, he has developed listening and other skills that help him understand the many facets of every dispute. Frequently asked by his judicial colleagues to help resolve some of the most complex and intractable matters before them, Judge Greenberg ultimately resolved hundreds of matters involving numerous issues including personal injury, construction, medical and legal malpractice, contract and general business.

JUDGE OF THE SUPERIOR COURT, Alameda County, California
1998 to 2000
Trial and settlement judge for jury and court trials, including a wide range of civil and criminal cases.

  • Created and presided over a Drug Court, which was featured at the National Drug Court Conference, 1999, as the most innovative drug court in the United States

MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE, Alameda County, California
1982 to 1998

  • Served on statewide anti-nuclear judicial task force dealing with arraignments of hundreds of defendants and their subsequent trials

STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AGRICULTURAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD CHIEF JUDGE.

Involved in many complicated unfair labor practice and election cases. Participated in extensive settlement conferences and trials including a four-month trial that ended with a 200-page decision.

Community Involvement

COUNSELOR, Dispute Resolution Program, Berkeley, CA    1988 to 1989
Introduced to the superintendent of schools, and the principal and faculty of Berkeley High School a unique program to address the violence in the school by training students to become conflict-resolvers.

Judicial Education Activity

CHIEF JUDGE, ALRB, Sacramento, CA      1976
Hired approximately 100 lawyers to function as judges; created a training program and developed a curriculum for administrative law judges.

JUDICIAL EDUCATOR, Vietnam      1998
Key participant in teaching a highly successful one-week labor and employment seminar to judges, first in Hanoi and subsequently in Ho Chi Minh City

JUDICIAL EDUCATOR, Cambodia      1995
Key person in creating written materials used in a simultaneously translated ten-day training program for 60 of Cambodia's 100 judges, which elicited an enormously positive response from our judicial audience.
