Hon. Robert B. Axel is engaged in ADR practice involving family law disputes. He has more than 42 years of legal experience, which includes 37 years on the Los Angeles Superior Court bench. Prior to Commissioner Axel joining the bench, he represented private parties, insurance companies and corporations in both the prosecution and defense of personal injury matters as well as construction litigation. In the construction area, he defended and prosecuted surety and performance bonds in favor of home owners, companies and government agencies in Federal and State Courts across the country. In 37 years on the Los Angeles Superior Court, Robert Axel presided over more than 300,000 cases involving custody and visitation, child support, family assets and debts involving real estate, businesses, paternity matters as well as civil restraining orders in both family and non-family matters. Commissioner Axel has been active in the Inns of Court, the South East Bar Association, the Whittier Bar Association, the Long Beach Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association Family Law Section. He was honored by the Whittier Bar Association as Judge of the Year in 2005. Hon. Robert Axel serves as a mediator, arbitrator, referee, and judge pro tem of family law matters: custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, and the division of assets.
